Board Development
Programme overview
About the Board Development Programme
"Clore's Board Development Programme is a wonderful experience that encourages open and honest exchange between Senior Management and Board in a highly constructive manner. Our time spent together was a positive one and gave us the opportunity to discuss key aspects of governance and shared responsibilities"
Executive Director, Arts organisation
What is it?
The Clore Leadership Programme specialises in working with dynamic cultural leaders to help them realise their true potential. We help individual Board Members, CEOs/Artistic Directors, Chairs and Board teams to challenge perceptions; harness creativity and clarity of thought; and to realise their aspirations for their organisation through actionable and measurable outcomes that will develop sustainability and resilience.
Who is it for?
The Board Development Programme is funded by Arts Council England and is available to national portfolio organisations, libraries and museums based in England.
Chair and CEO/Artistic Director Training Days are designed ideally for small organisations, i.e. with an annual turnover of less than £500,000 and those with less experienced Boards. This could include, for example:
- Organisations which have recently joined the Arts Council's national portfolio
- Chairs and CEOs who have started working together in the last 12 months
- Organisations whose board members have limited experience of governance
- Chairs and CEOs who have not previously had the opportunity of training in governance
What will I gain from attending?
The Chair and CEO/Artistic Director Training Days cover issues such as artistic risk, financial information, legal responsibilities, strategic planning, diversity, recruitment and succession planning. The Clore team for the day will normally consist of a course leader, a financial expert and a facilitator.
Please note that applications to the Chair and CEO/Artistic Director Training Days are currently closed
